“Water is the driving force of all nature” Leonardo da Vinci
I love the quote above, not only does it encompass all of nature, it is true to the human body as well. We need it to not only survive, but to exist. Our bodies are 60-65% water and our brain, about 85%. Without the proper intake of H20 on a daily basis we are not giving our body and mind the hydration it needs to function on the most basic level. Before thinking too much in to “dieting” (I actually despise this word but that is for another time) or cleansing, fasting, or any other way to reduce toxins in the body, we need to start with the basics.
Drink. More. Water.
Sounds too easy, right?
Water is one of the most valuable resources we have to nourish our bodies. I am not going to get caught up in the “you must drink 8, 8 oz glasses a day” but you should be drinking a large amount of H20 to really get soaked in all of its benefits. (pun definitely intended)
What are all of the benefits you ask? Here are just some of the great things you will experience being more hydrated.
- Suppresses your appetite.
- Reduces sodium buildup and helps maintain muscle tone
- Aides the body eliminate waste and toxins
- Relieves fluid retention
- Reduces fat deposits in the body by helping the body metabolize the fat that is stored in the body
Can help treat:
- high blood pressure
- cravings (sugar, fried foods)
- chronic fatigue syndrome
- alcohol dependency
- lower back pain, neck pain etc.
So my advice for today is quite simple. Fill your cup with some water and…bottoms up!
